This project is a force for good and the culture of comments more and more creates division, exploits our insecurities and risks our safety. Its unfortunate that too many users choose to use the platform-of-comments for negative. We have no will to manage negative commentary on this public forum. We choose a different approach, if you have something positive to say, please express directly through social links below. And reminds us all of our commonality, not our differences. We all came from ashes. Han Han's approach is melodic, and she chooses to sing almost exclusively in Filipino languages — Tagalog and Cebuano — rather than shoehorning her ideas into translation in order to cater to English-speaking audiences. Lyrics: “Indio”, they call us dumb no brain, no pride uneducated people Yati! She is a proud Visaya Be careful with your words Slow down a bit Solid with beautiful hearts We are nice Every muscle in my body is soft and kindhearted But....If you cross us We will stand for our rights We fight the wicked, the crocodiles of society Where you’re from, never forget Always do what is right Different belief systems, religion All Muslims and Christians All came from the ashes Remember that all the people in the world All came from one (Where from) All came from one (Where from) All came from the ashes Tout venait des cendres We all came from ashes Ma voix, dangereuse Mon coeur, ma fierté My skin, my pride My voice, dangerous Resistant, definitely I am king Caution Tout venait des cendres We all came from ashes Ma voix, dangereuse Mon coeur, ma fierté credits from Nafada, released September 5, 2019 ©2019 Konqistador Music Producers: INfest8, Reginald Tiessen Writers: INfest8, Elizabeth Graham, Reginald Tiessen, Han Han Recorded: Detroit (USA), Sydney (Australia) Additional Recording: Alexander Punzalan / Pacific Blues Mix: INfest8 Master: Tempermill Studios Detroit

Han Han at Conjuring the Future - Live at #ISF2019

Han Han is a Filipina-Canadian artist and operating room nurse. At the hospital, she saves lives. Onstage, she inspires audiences. Her kinetic, high-energy performances offer unique perspectives. Her songs grapple with social issues and her experiences as a woman and an immigrant. Han Han can broadly be described as an emcee, using rap and spoken word techniques to deliver her vocals. Her approach is melodic, and she chooses to sing almost exclusively in Filipino languages — Tagalog and Cebuano — rather than shoehorning her ideas into translation in order to cater to English-speaking audiences. Her songs combine contemporary, 808-hip-hop beats with traditional Filipino rhythms and cadences, yielding fresh sounds that tend to spur dancing wherever they’re heard. After immigrating to Toronto in 2006, she took part in an ongoing poetry workshop. This experience organically drew her into the city’s music and arts communities, as she joined collectives and performed at local events. In 2014, she self-released her debut album, Han Han, which was praised by NOW Magazine, the Huffington Post, and the CBC. Single ‘World Gong Crazy’ was nominated for “Best Song” in Berlin Music Video Awards 2017. The record also led to a publishing deal with EMI, high-quality film / television placements, and international radio play in Germany, France, and the Philippines. Watch her live performance at Indian Summer Festival 2019, which includes the hit ‘World Gong Crazy’. Event Presenting Partner: Factor Canada Community Partner: Revolutions Per Minute Indian Summer Festival is made possible thanks to the wonderful support of: - Simon Fraser University (Founding Partner) - Langara College, University of British Columbia (Major Partners) - Government of Canada, Government of British Columbia, BC Arts Council, City of Vancouver - Cultural Services, Vancouver Foundation (Funders) - The Georgia Straight, CBC Vancouver, Spice Radio 1200AM (Premier Media Partners) ________________________________________________________________ To all of us at Indian Summer, the festival really is a model for the kind of society we’d like to see. A society that is creative, diverse, inclusive and innovative. As the world builds more and more walls and as societies get suspicious and afraid of people who don’t look like them and think like them, we believe in the transformative power of the arts and the festival is our way of reaffirming these beliefs. "They say every little girl dreams of the white dress for their future wedding day as they recite their vow to love the person they are supposed to spend the rest of their life with, EVEN before the little girl learns to love herself. "Kailan Kaya?" - she asks herself. When will the person who is supposed to love her come in her life? Yet, she did not realized that SHE IS WHO SHE IS WAITING FOR. The white dress is waiting for her to embrace it, strut it proudly in the middle of the street and stop traffic. #SelfLoveIsAVirtue" - HanHan Inspired by Tracy McMillan's TedTalk See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3fIZuW9P_M NOTE: This video footage was taken in 2016 during the "dispideda" party for Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts & Culture (a.k.a. The K) as it bid adieu to Kensington Market and moved to another space. The K has been home to so many emerging and established Fil-Canadian artists in Toronto. This is our homage.
